There's an Android Tor app, and because Chromebooks can run Android apps, you can use it on your Chromebook. Tor's website states that there is no official Tor client for ChromeOS. These have a “.onion” extension and cannot be reached using a regular browser. Its real purpose is to visit sites on the Tor network itself, called onion sites. In fact, it will make your connection a bit slow and degrade your user experience. However, the main goal of Tor Browser is not clear web browsing. Using a virtual private network (VPN) provides protection for this last step of the connection and is strongly recommended. If the website uses the old HTTP protocol, your traffic will not be secure. If the website uses HTTPS, your connection will still be encrypted and inaccessible to others.
